Obituary of Floristine Owens

                                                   Floristine Owens 

                                       June 22, 1937 – March 23, 2024 

Floristine Owens, age 86, of Newark, California passed away peacefully at Windsor El Camino Care Home, Carmichael, on Saturday, March 23, 2024. 

Flora is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Apicella (Chris) and son, Gary Stoxstell, as well as her granddaughter, Katharine Apicella, and grandson, Damon Proctor.  She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Robert L. Owens, and her eldest child, Carol Kent Proctor. 

Flora enjoyed many years working in retail sales for the old Emporium Capwell stores, both in downtown Oakland and later in Fremont, CA. She was a fashion maven who loved dressing up, going shopping and trying out new restaurants with friends and family.  She was an avid reader through most of her life and took great joy in “swapping” the latest Ann Rule true crime books with daughter, Rhonda.

She was a loving “Granny” to Katie and before her health failed, the three generations would take the train from Newark to San Francisco for shopping trips to San Francisco Centre.   

She was widowed in 2002, and the years afterward were often difficult for her, but she carried on and she will be missed, but we rejoice that she is free of illness. 

Interment will take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 12:30 - 1 pm at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA  95620
